Since 1992, she has been a member of the Union of architects in Bulgaria, and since 1999, a member of the Chamber of architects in Bulgaria.

Biography

Assoc. prof. dr. arch. Gichka Kutova – Kamenova is the first woman rector and the first architect to be elected rector of UACEG in the university’s 80-year history, elected in December 2023.

Her appointment to this leadership position is a logical continuation of her extensive academic, teaching, scientific, administrative, and managerial experience over the years – head of the department of architectural technology at the faculty of architecture at UACEG from 2018 to February 2024, vice dean for international relations and research from 2016 to 2020 at the faculty of architecture at UACEG, followed by a successful term as vice rector of UACEG for research and applied activities from 2019 to 2023.

In 2009, she obtained the educational and scientific degree of doctor with a dissertation on “architectural integration of active solar systems in buildings,” and in 2012 she was habilitated as associate professor in the department of architectural technology.

Her scientific interests lie in the areas of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, active solar systems in buildings, solar architecture, design of buildings with integrated active solar systems in the building envelope, modern trends and development of the building envelope.

She has authored over 20 publications in scientific, specialized, and popular journals. She has participated in numerous forums and conferences, as well as in research projects.

She has repeatedly participated in and won nominations in the Building of the Year competition in 2005, 2011, and 2021, and in 2020 she won first place in the category “industrial buildings” for the production and storage facility of the company “Kalinel” in the town of Troyan.
