DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN CONSTRUCTION

The rapid technological development in the production of materials, equipment and offered services necessitates the search for solutions to increase efficiency, quality and competitiveness in all sectors of production and the economy through the development and implementation of numerous information solutions. Digital transformation is key to the development of the construction sector, and for this reason the “European Digital Innovation Hub in the Construction Sector” Association has set itself the main task of creating a high-tech centre, which integrates expert potential, networks of partnerships and resources for the provision of training and services, aimed at business and the public sector, to support the implementation of this process.

The four digital innovation hubs, established in Bulgaria so far, will offer the official authorities to synchronise the rules for work under the two EU programmes, under which they will operate in the coming years. These are the Digital Europe programme of the European Commission and the Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation programme, which is managed by the Ministry of Economy and Growth. The aim is to unify the rules at national level with the European procedure for the hubs, which have already been approved by the EC. This was agreed at a joint meeting of the representatives of the four associations – European Digital Information Hub (EDIH) in the construction sector, EDIH Thrace, AGRO Hub and EDIH Zagore.

On 02.11.2022, the kick-off meeting for the launch of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) project in the construction sector, co-funded by the Digital Europe Programme of the European Commission, was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of all partners.

On 13.10.2022 the Bulgarian Construction Chamber, as initiator and coordinator, signed a funding agreement with the European Commission for the implementation of an approved project for a European Digital Innovation Hub under the Digital Europe Programme – DIGITAL-2021-EDIH-01.
